  • You are never in a binding contract with an insurance carrier. You can choose to leave at any time. There are certain carriers (very few) that charge cancellation fee’s, but most do not. If you decide to come to Purple Shield Insurance, we assist you with canceling your current policies, and getting your pro-rated refund within 10 business days.

  • Coverage A on a home insurance policy is meant to get you whole again and re-build your home. We do a replacement cost calculation to show what coverage you need based on year built, square footage, bathroom count, and building materials. We do not include value of the land in this calculation because even if the worst case happens and there is a total loss, the insurance carriers typically do not give you cash, they just use the funds to re-build the home. If you are looking for cash out options, there are certain carriers that offer that endorsement, it does cost more.

  • The carriers have 1-800 numbers and online ways to report your claim. We encourage our clients to lean on us and call us first before calling them to review what happened (cause of loss), coverage details, and deductibles to see if it is worth filing the claim. If you call and inquire directly to the carrier, and decide not to follow through on the claim, a $0 claim follows you around for five to seven years and can affect future rates and eligibility.

  • Never cancel your prior policies until you have paid, and signed your new policies. Everything is electronically filed, and it is hard to place coverage if there is any lapse in coverage.
